Flooded, Clogged Toilet?

Watching water rise to the top edge of a toilet bowl is disconcerting to say the least. But in most cases the water will stop running before overflowing. Many toilet bowls are designed in such a way that they will usually hold the entire contents of the tank without overflowing.

But that’s only IF the water level in the bowl was at its normal height before the toilet was flushed, and the ballcock and flapper are working properly and shut off when the tank is full.

Leaking Faucets, Drains or Taps?

The average house will be equipped with what are known as compression faucets. These get their name from the fact that a soft rubber or fiber washer inside of them is compressed down when you turn the handle, and blocks off the orifice or hole through which the water passes.

Continued use wears the washer away or distorts it so that it does not completely close the orifice, whereupon you have a dripping faucet or one that runs continuously.

Shower Damage?

Tired of that leaky, single stream shower head left over from the 1970s?

Shower heads can experience lime build-up that affects water flow, and older shower heads may not be up to current low-flow guidelines.

There may be a problem further down the line that is preventing proper pressure from reaching your shower pipes.
Our plumbing experts can repair your Bathroom Sinks, Kitchen Sinks, Laundry Tubs, Bath Tubs, Faucets, Taps, Showers, Sinks and Drains with a cost efficient and professional repair.

Blocked Drain Tiles?

Is your basement getting damp. wet or even flooded? Drain Tiles can be in poor and deteriorated condition due to age of your home. Blockages, cracks or holes can be caused by debris in your drain tiles or even tree roots. tree roots.

Wet houses are linked to an increase in respiratory problems and the property value of your house may depreciate because the basement is prone to frequent flooding.

We can replace your drain tiles and guarantee top quality workmanship. We are available 24 hours should an emergency arise.

Drain Tile Definition: A drain tile is a porous pipe used for underground drainage. The pipe is typically plastic with small slits cut lengthwise into it. It is buried and surrounded by aggregate larger than the slits. The aggregate rocks prevent excessive soil from falling through the slits into the drain tile. With this arrangement, water in the surrounding soil above the weeping tile flows into the drain tile. The drain tile then drains into a storm sewer or a sump pump.

It is often used for water drainage near basement foundations to prevent flooding. It can be used in farmers’ fields to drain waterlogged fields. Such fields are called “tiled.” drain tiles can be used anywhere soil needs to be drained.

drain tiles are used for the opposite reason in the septic drain fields for septic tanks. Clarified sewage from the septic tank is fed into drain tiles buried shallowly in the drain field. The drain tile spreads the liquid throughout the drain field.

The drain tile is to be installed so that the top of the product is lower than the bottom of the interior concrete floor. The drain tile should be connected to a sump pit, located on the interior of the home. The ground water collected in the sump pit can then be removed by a sump pump. The exhausted water can be pumped a safe distance from the home by means of a flexible line or in some areas, into the city storm drains. Care should be taken not to create flooding conditions for adjoining properties.

Sewer Lines

Flooded Basement Surrey are specialists in the repair and replacement of your homes sewer lines. We will replace your line without having to dig a trench. With over 25 years of experience you will be assured that your water line will be replaced by our licensed plumbers without any damage caused to your homes gardens, yards, driveways etc.

Pipe Bursting is a technique for replacement of existing pipes. The existing pipe, once burst, becomes the guide path for the new pipe being installed.

This technique bursts the old pipe and in so doing displaces the fragmented old pipe into the surrounding soil. This creates a hole of roughly the same dimension as the original.

If a larger diameter pipe is to be installed a larger ‘expanding cone’ is used to increase the size of the hole. Once done, the new pipe is pushed or pulled into position.

Trenchless pipe replacement simply means there is no requirement to dig a trench in order to install / replace underground pipes.

The chief benefits of this system are time reductions, cost efficiency and minimal damage to landscaping. Please see our section on pipe replacement for benefits and  more detailed information and examples.

A variation of this method is called ‘Pipe Slitting’ which breaks the pipe by longitudinal slitting.

Our Pipe Genie System is the finest system available to replace your sewer or water lines without digging a trench or disrupting your landscaping, sidewalks or driveway! Water Line Problems? View our Water Line Page

We use our own “Pipe Genie” Trenchless pipe replacement machines to replace your water line without having to dig a trench. This means no damages to your lawns, gardens, driveways etc. We dig just 2 holes. The first hole is where we place our machine which will pull the sewer line through. and we then pull the new water line that is placed at the second hole.

Water Lines can become damaged by:

  • Broken, cracked, clogged – damaged pipes due to shifting soil, frozen ground and sinkage.
  • Blockage – foreign object is restricting or prohibiting proper flow of the water line.
  • Corrosion – the water line has deteriorated causing collapses in the line and restricting or leaking lines.
  • Root infiltration – tree roots may have invaded your water line, damaging the line.

Basement Waterproofing

Basement Waterproofing refers to techniques used to prevent water from entering the basement of a house or other building. Effective below ground waterproofing will include both drainage and sealers.

Waterproofing is needed anytime a structure is built at ground level or below ground. Waterproofing and drainage considerations are especially needed in cases where ground water is likely to build up in the soil and raise the water table. This higher water table causes hydrostatic pressure to be exerted underneath basement floors and against basement walls.

Hydrostatic pressure forces water in through cracks in foundation walls, through openings caused by expansion and contraction of the footing-foundation wall joint and up through floor cracks. Hydrostatic pressure can cause major structural damage to foundation walls and is likely to contribute to mold, decay and other moisture related problems.

In poured concrete foundations, cracks and pipe penetrations are the most common entry points for seepage. These openings can be readily sealed from the interior. Epoxies or urethanes are pressure injected into the openings, penetrating the foundation through to the exterior, thereby cutting of the path of the seepage. These repairs will last for a long time. Many contractors provide 10 year to lifetime warranties on these repairs.

In masonry foundations, interior sealers will not provide permanent protection from water infiltration where hydrostatic pressure is present. Interior sealers are good for preventing high atmospheric humidity inside the basement, from absorbing into the porous masonry and to prevent spalling.

Spalling is a condition where constant high humidity or moisture break down masonry surfaces causing deterioration and shedding of the concrete surfaces.

When the foundation is constructed of concrete blocks, an interior drain tile system, described below, can capture the water entering the block system and drain the water into a sump. Typically, weep holes are drilled into the lowest course of block, allowing the drainage to occur. This system will provide a dry and moisture free basement for years to come.

A variation of this method is called ‘Pipe Slitting’ which breaks the pipe by longitudinal slitting.

Pipe bursting is popular in urban areas where congestion due to existing services sharing the same space under the surface is a problem. Bursting must be used very carefully where sub surface crowding could put other lines at risk due to the pressure of the bursting head.  Contact us at: 1-800-506-6048
